Cushla Holdaway

Cushla Holdaway

Accredited Sports Dietitian

Accredited Sports Dietitian

Work with Cushla

Based in the heart of Mid-Canterbury, Cushla works with people all over New Zealand and beyond both in-person and virtually.

Being passionate about sports, especially running, since she was a child it was only a matter of time before her passion for food, health, and performance nutrition flourished into wanting to pursue this further. Cushla completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Majoring in Human Nutrition followed by a Master of Dietetics (MDiet) at the University of Otago before working clinically for a number of years gaining fundamental experience in a range of specialities in some of New Zealand’s largest hospitals. She then spent four years specialising in diabetes before working in private practice full-time. More recently, Cushla completed further studies to become an Accredited sports dietitian with Sports Dietitians Australia, finished training as a FODMAP Dietitian through Monash University Melbourne, and has completed courses on eating disorders in sports.

Cushla strongly values individualised and realistic advice as well as walking the talk regularly competing in many endurance events herself including the famous Kepler Challenge and Coast to Coast. Theory is great, but putting this into practice in the real world can be challenging. Eating optimally can feel overwhelming, whether that is in the daily hustle and bustle of life, eating for certain health conditions, or 6-hours into an ultra-marathon. This is where Cushla can come in offering a clinical, evidence-based, realistic, and practical approach.

Outside of work, you will find Cushla out running trails, skiing up the mountain, walking her Bernese Mountain Dogs, reading, studying, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Conrad Goodhew

Accredited Sports Dietitian

Work with Conrad

Since the age of 4, Conrad has participated in many different sports, from rugby and cricket to squash and golf – many at provincial and international representative levels. He also loves the outdoors where he enjoys surfing and diving, among everything else.

With no previous multiport experience, Conrad’s next endeavour is to take on the Coast-to-Coast Longest Day. With this, he can understand the pressures that sportsmen and women go through, both physically and psychologically.

Conrad works with teen athletes, track and field athletes, Crossfit Games athletes, professional golfers, endurance athletes, and professional rugby players (to name a few). He currently contracts to the Crusaders; the Black Ferns Christchurch Hub and the Canterbury Sports Development Academy.

Not only does he work with elite athletes, but with his clinical dietetic training he likes to (and is able to) support any weekend warrior who does some form of exercise. Whether that is going to the gym a few times per week, or that individual that participates in ultra-endurance events, he is able to support you.

His drive is to start changing the way the health and fitness industry sees clients as more than just a 'quick fix' for marketing, and is working towards driving sustainable change to inspire generations to follow.

Having been an under-fueled, uneducated athlete myself, I know what it's like to push through under-fuelled training, receive inconsistent results, go through the waves of yo-yo dieting, and unhelpful thought patterns.

As a result, the core values B.B.N will bring to your journey include education, support, freedom, and a light-hearted nature. To make this health thing a lot more enjoyable!

I became a foodie through the development of my food allergies and IBS diagnosis. Through this experience I found a great level of empathy and creative ways to make foods taste great without trigger foods in them. Outside of food, I am an outdoors lover so if I am not in the kitchen or at work I will likely be hiking somewhere beautiful.

When we work together, I take the time to really understand your needs, priorities and goals. As I have experienced IBS first hand I have a deep understanding for what it can be like and use this to empathise with you. I will work with you to make small but effective changes that have a large impact on your health and well-being.
